In a statement released on Monday, Poroshenko said that reaching agreement with several NATO countries to organize direct supplies of modern weapons could help Kiev defend itself and win. He added that Ukraine could count only on itself but financial and military technical assistance was critically important.
Presidential adviser Yuri Lutsenko said that NATO had agreed to send its military advisors and supply modern weapons to Ukraine from the United States, France, Italy, Poland, and Norway following its recent summit in Wales. Washington, Warsaw and Oslo however immediately denied the report, while Italian Defense Ministry officials said Rome was considering supplying military gear to Ukraine, but only non-lethal types and in close coordination with NATO partners.
