While Ukraine has maintained contact with the White House, Zelensky noted that discussions so far have been general, and he hopes for more detailed agreements in upcoming meetings.
President Trump previously stated that he is engaged in "very serious" discussions with Russia to find a resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He reaffirmed his intention to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing optimism that a significant agreement could be reached.
On the Russian side, President Vladimir Putin reiterated that any resolution must ensure lasting peace rather than a temporary ceasefire. He also confirmed that Russia is prepared to appoint a special representative to engage in negotiations if President Zelensky is willing to participate.
