Following the historic visit of President Barack Obama to Cuba in March, US Secretary of State John Kerry asked Ambassador Kristie Kenny, the Counselor of the US Department of State, to lead the delegation. Kenny will be joined by US Deputy Assistant Secretary John Cremer. The Cuban delegation will be lead by Josefina Vidal, the Foreign Ministry’s Director General for US Affairs.

The press release said Washington’s top priority is to deepen the dialogue with the Cuban government, for which the Bilateral Commission is the primary mechanism.

Cuba’s Deputy Director General for the US Affairs Gustavo Machin confirmed the meeting, adding that the two sides will continue to discuss the US’s embargo on Cuba’s banking sector.
