The USMCA is the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, negotiated by Trump during his first term, that makes the three North American countries a free trade zone.

This decision was made after a phone call on the same day between President Trump and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

"We had an excellent and respectful call in which we agreed that our work and collaboration have yielded unprecedented results," Sheinbaum said in a post on X.

On February 3, after a phone call between the two leaders, President Trump agreed to pause a 25% tariff on imported goods from Mexico by one month, as the Mexican government pledged to deploy 10,000 National Guard troops to their shared border to crack down on drug trafficking and illegal immigration.

Under the new orders, Canadian imports that comply with USMAC, mainly auto parts, will avoid the 25% tariff for one month. Potash, which US farmers import from Canada to make fertilizer, will be taxed at a lower rate of 10%, the same rate as Canadian energy products.
