Canada files WTO complaint against US tariffs

(VOVWORLD) - The World Trade Organization (WTO) announced on Wednesday that Canada has formally requested consultations to resolve a dispute over US tariffs on Canadian goods.

Nadia Theodore, Canada’s Ambassador to the WTO, said she has called on the WTO to engage with the US government regarding what she described as "unreasonable tariffs" which she said forced Canada to take this step to safeguard its national interests.

The complaint follows the March 4 announcement by the US government, which imposed a new 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and doubled tariffs on Chinese goods from 10% to 20%.
