US House rejects compromise immigration bill
(VOVWORLD) - The US House of Representatives on Wednesday rejected a “compromise” immigration bill written to address the crisis of families being separated at the US-Mexico border. Dozens of Republicans and all Democrats voted against the bill.
The bill would have granted US citizenship to children illegally brought into the US as kids, provided funding for President Donald Trump’s proposed US-Mexico border wall, and asked the Department of Homeland Security to detain immigrant families together until the end of their immigration proceedings.
