(VOVWORLD) - The US Senate on Wednesday approved Admiral John Aquilino to be the next commander of the Indo-Pacific Command (Indo-Pacom).

Aquilino is currently the commander of the US Pacific Fleet.
Indo-Pacom asked the US Congress in March for 27 billion USD in additional spending between 2022 and 2027, with 4.6 billion USD for fiscal year 2022 alone, to establish an Aegis Ashore system on Guam by 2026 and to upgrade training.
