(VOVworld) – At a meeting Tuesday with the foreign press, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said his government will launch an economic recovery program next year, including forming domestic reserves for social investment.

The program also aims to reduce public expenditures, complete a currency exchange system, increase foreign reserves, and keep goods prices stable. Maduro said Venezuela’s economy was undermined by commercial speculation and smuggling to Colombia. He called on all Venezuelans to unite to strengthen the national economy. The Venezuelan Central Bank announced that Venezuela’s unemployment rate decreased in November to 5.9 per cent – the lowest level in the last 15 years.
