Vietnam active in combating wildlife trafficking

(VOVworld) - The third International Wildlife Trade Conference opened in Hanoi today/ Thursday involving representatives from 47 countries, the European Union, international and non-governmental organisations.

Vietnam’s Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister Sonxay Siphandone; the UK’s Duke of Cambridge, Prince William; and Deputy Secretary General of the UN Yury Fedotov were all prominent guests at the event.
Addressing the conference, Vietnam’s Vice President said that Vietnam attaches great importance to preserving bio-diversity and protecting wildlife, particularly endangered species. She told the conference that Vietnam has set up natural reserves and parks to conserve endangered species and has signed the UN conventions on biodiversity and preventing and fighting the cross-border trafficking of wildlife animals and plants.
