Vietnam-China ties advance with focus on trade, technology, people-to-people exchange

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam consistently regards the development of its relations with China as an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralism and diversification of external relations, said Party General Secretary To Lam.

The Party leader was speaking during a reception in Hanoi on Tuesday for Chen Gang, member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Chairman of the Regional People's Congress Standing Committee.

Mr. Lam suggested Guangxi and Vietnamese localities promote cooperation in various fields, particularly trade, infrastructure, science and technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI); pilot smart border gates to facilitate customs clearance; as well as cooperate in land border management.

He expressed his hope that the two sides will collaborate effectively in holding Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange Year 2025.

Mr. Chen proposed strengthening delegation exchanges at all levels; expanding collaboration in such fields as trade, investment, education, training, science, and technology; and piloting a smart border gate model.

He also called for measures to enhance road and railway transport connectivity and facilitate goods flows, travel, and people-to-people exchanges between China and Vietnam, as well as other ASEAN countries.
