PM Chinh underlined the message of Party General Secretary To Lam and senior Vietnamese leaders that they want to cooperate closely with President Donald Trump’s administration to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries and maintain a stable and substantive development momentum.

He suggested that the two sides continue making economic-trade-investment cooperation a driving force of their relationship. The Vietnamese Government always pays due attention to creating attractive conditions for US businesses and investors to operate in Vietnam, PM Chinh said, adding that Vietnam wants to build balanced, stable, harmonious, sustainable cooperation with the US in their common interest.

He urged the US to recognize Vietnam’s market economy and facilitate Vietnam’s importing of high-tech equipment from the US.

The Prime Minister took the occasion to ask the Ambassador and the US Embassy to continue to lobby the US Government and Congress to increase support projects to overcome the consequences of war in Vietnam, transfer technology, and improve DNA identification of Vietnamese martyrs.

Ambassador Knapper pledged to continue to closely coordinate with Vietnamese ministries and sectors to broaden and deepen the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He said the US prioritizes relations with Vietnam based on respect for Vietnam's political institutions, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and support for a strong, independent, self-reliant, and prosperous Vietnam, adding that the US wants to expand cooperation in all fields.

Ambassador Knapper said that on the 30th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, the US Embassy in Hanoi is working with Vietnamese agencies on an effective agenda.
