Asialyst highlighted the role of the Vietnamese government in responding to the pandemic since the first cases were reported in Wuhan, China. According to the paper, Vietnam, with experience from the SARS epidemic in 2003, quickly quarantined all known cases of infection and successfully contained the pandemic.
It said Vietnam has given priority to a “low-cost” strategy that involves systematically tracing all persons who have had contact with an infected patient and quarantining them to minimize the risk of further infection.
