(VOVWORLD) - Since the 4th wave of COVID-19 hit Vietnam in late April, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) has allocated 53 million USD to frontline forces and one million workers impacted by the pandemic.

At a press conference held online on Tuesday, the VGCL said donations took the form of food, daily necessities, and money.
VGCL Vice President Ngo Duy Hieu briefed reporters on future plans.
“Most workers earn just enough for their monthly needs. Rarely do they have money saved for a rainy day. The Confederation is supporting businesses which are able to follow the ‘three on site’ model, where workers eat, sleep, and work on site without returning home. We have encouraged employers to adjust their production plans to keep as many workers as possible. A decreased workload means less income, but at least they can earn enough to survive,” he said.
