“The Great Indian Wedding” is a musical enactment of the sacred ceremony of marriage featuring the larger than life celebrations that surround it. A wedding in India is a colorful festival at which hundreds of gods and saints bless the bride and bridegroom, who vow to live with each other forever. The wedding represents not only the merging of two individuals, but a linking of two families and clans. The performance brought Vietnamese viewers closer to India’s vivid, splendid culture through colorful dance sequences and a profusion of Indian cuisine and music. “The Great Indian Wedding” will also be staged in Phu Tho province on Friday and Yen Bai province on Saturday.
