Vietnam initiates cooperation orientation at ADMM Retreat
(VOVWORLD) - General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense, led a Vietnamese delegation to the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Retreat, ADMM Retreat, which took place in Penang, Malaysia on Wednesday, under the chairmanship of Malaysian Defense Minister Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin.

General Cuong proposed a number of orientations for ADMM and ADMM+ and highly appreciated Malaysia initiated Joint Statement for Cooperation in artificial intelligence in defense.
The adoption of the Joint Statement demonstrates ADMM’s proactiveness and timely response to AI governance, he said, expressing his hope that countries will promote their roles and strengths, share experiences, and contribute more to improving ASEAN’s capability.

The Vietnamese General thanked the Ministries of Defense and businesses of countries for attending the 2nd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition at the end of 2024, which he said has contributed to the event’s success.
