(VOVworld) – Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh has expressed his hope that Vietnam and Japan will continue coordinating closely in implementing high-level economic agreements.
Ninh made the statement at a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo on Thursday. Ninh is in Japan to attend the 21st International Conference on The Future of Asia.

Ninh suggested that the Japanese government maintain its ODA provision at a high level for Vietnam’s sustainable development and encourage Japanese enterprises to increase investments and technology transfers to Vietnam, particularly in agriculture.

Abe said Japan treasures its ties with Vietnam and will continue its cooperation and assistance for Vietnam’s development.

The two leaders agreed to intensify coordination at international forums.
Abe expressed his hope for closer future cooperation between Japan and the Mekong region.

Regarding the East Sea, Abe emphasized the importance of obeying international law, noting that it must be enforced by close cooperation of the international community.

The same day, Deputy PM Ninh met with Hayashi Motoo, Chairman of the House of Representatives and the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Association.

Ninh urged the Association to give more support for exchanges at all levels between the two nations and their legislative bodies.

Ninh also met with Hiroshi Sakuma of the Mitsubishi Group, which has a number of projects in automobile assembly and infrastructure in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and is involved in the Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plant.

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tat Thanh Cang had a working session with a delegation of the Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan’s Kansai region led by its director Seki Soichiro.
