Chairing a government meeting on economic growth and acceleration of public investment disbursement, the PM said that in 2025 GDP growth must reach at least 8% to build momentum, establish a strong foundation, and create the necessary force for double-digit growth in the following years.

Vietnam aims to become a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle-income status by 2030 and a developed, high-income country by 2045.

According to the Prime Minister, it is time for the country to accelerate, create breakthroughs, and seize every opportunity to advance faster and farther. For the country to achieve at least 8% growth, all ministries, sectors, and localities must also grow by at least 8%, he said.

"We must pursue rapid yet sustainable growth while maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, ensuring social welfare, promoting equity and progress, protecting the environment, and leaving no one behind. Economic gains must not come at the expense of social progress and equity or environmental sustainability,” the PM noted.

PM Chinh outlined key tasks and solutions for  the first quarter including GDP growth of 8% or more, per capita GDP exceeding 5,000 USD, and average CPI growth of  4.5-5%.

He emphasized the importance of improving  institutions; ensuring a streamlined, effective, and efficient  apparatus; and promoting administrative reform and digital transformation. It is also crucial to renew traditional growth drivers while fostering new ones; accelerate public investment disbursement; intensify the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and negativity; and strengthen foreign relations and international integration, he said.
