According to PM Luxon, there are obviously huge opportunities for the two countries in trade and around education, tourism, agriculture, fruit and traditional products, but New Zealand has some really great emerging technologies and science as well.

He said that New Zealand is the fourth biggest country in the world for launching rockets into space, after the US, China, and Russia. Therefore, it has significant potential to cooperate and support Vietnam in many areas.

The PM said that Vietnam will become a more influential and prosperous nation, deeply integrated into the global supply chain. Vietnam has been one of the fastest growing and strongest economies in Southeast Asia over the last 25 years, he said, adding that the country is currently a rising star in the region.

Forecasts show that Vietnam's economy will continue to grow at around 7% a year for the next few years, so there's no doubt that Vietnam has done an exceptionally good job of building its economy, and it has taken millions of people out of poverty as a result of that economic growth, PM Luxon said.
