Vietnam urges parties in Central Africa to respect peace agreement

(VOVWORLD) - The UN Security Council met Monday to discuss the Central African Republic’s preparations for elections in December and implementation of the peace agreement that 14 armed groups signed last February.

16 candidates are running for president. Meanwhile the security situation is worsening, as more and more factions violate the peace agreement. 

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Head of the Vietnam mission to the UN, agreed that a safe election must be ensured. He urged the international community to support the Central African Republic, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in the Central African Republic to the African Union, the Central African Economic Community, and international partners.
