Vietnam, US pledge stronger comprehensive partnership

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and the US will strengthen economic and trade pillars in their bilateral relationship, especially cooperation in energy, agriculture, and tourism.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc and Republican Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska reached the agreement during their Wednesday meeting to discuss measures aimed at further promoting the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership.

Senator Sullivan said Alaska wants to expand cooperation in trading liquefied natural gas with Vietnam. The two sides agreed on the importance of maintaining a  constructive dialogue to iron out their differences.

Ambassador Ngoc asked that Senator Sullivan and the US Senate devote the necessary resources to effectively implement the Mekong-US partnership. The two agree that the US should continue to play a constructive role in and contribute to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, development, and rules-based order in the East Sea and the Indo-Pacific.

The Vietnamese diplomat said he hopes that Senator Sullivan and the US Senate will help Vietnam obtain COVID-19 vaccines. Senator Sullivan said he looks forward to returning to Vietnam, and is very interested in helping Vietnam overcome the pandemic.
