(VOVWORLD) - Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations Don Tuan Phong has said various activities have been underway nationwide to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Laos and 40 years since the two nations signed a friendship and cooperation treaty.
Mr. Phong made the statement at Tuesday’s reception in Hanoi for Somphanh Phengkhammy, the Lao NA Vice Chairperson, President of the Committee for Peace and Solidarity of Laos, and President of the Lao-Vietnamese Parliamentarians' Friendship Group.
He added that Vietnam will invite 40 people, including relatives of Lao families who fought with and protected Vietnamese soldiers, to attend celebrations in Vietnam.
