VOV launches 2025 “What do you know about Vietnam?” contest

(VOVWORLD) -The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) is holding its “What do you know about Vietnam?” contest from March 10, 2025, to June 15, 2025. The following are VOV’s Vice President Ngo Minh Hien’s message about the contest as well as its questions and rules.

Open to overseas Vietnamese and foreigners living in Vietnam or elsewhere, the contest is a key event celebrating VOV’s 80th anniversary (September 7, 1945 – September 7, 2025). It offers participants a chance to showcase their knowledge and love for Vietnam and express their appreciation of VOV.

VOV’s Vice President Ngo Minh Hien said, "We hope that VOV listeners worldwide will participate in this contest, which offers some exciting prizes. As we celebrate the contest’s 40th anniversary this year, we look forward to seeing participants express their love for VOV and Vietnam. Your enthusiasm will inspire us to serve our global audience, including overseas Vietnamese, even better."

Contestants will provide written answers to five questions which, together with the contest rules, will be broadcast in our weekly “Letter Box” segment and published on our website vovworld.vn from now until May 31, 2025.

Entries should be submitted either by email to englishsection@vov.vn or by post to VOVWORLD, 45 Ba Trieu street, Hang Bai ward, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, Vietnam, Postal Code 100000.

Entries must be submitted no later than June 15, 2025. Post mail must be postmarked no later than June 15, 2025.

Winners will be announced on the occasion of VOV’s 80th anniversary on September 7, 2025.

· The 3 best entries will each win a free 5-day, 4-night trip to Vietnam plus other gifts.

· The most impressive entry will receive gifts worth 5 million VND.

· The youngest and oldest contestant and 10 consolation prize winners will each receive gifts worth 2 million VND.

Questions for 2025 “What do you know about Vietnam?” contest

Question 1 (20 points)

Vietnam is entering a new era of development—the era of national rise. What are the Communist Party of Vietnam’s orientation and the aspirations of the Party and the Vietnamese people regarding this era of national rise?

Question 2 (30 points)

To advance into the new era of national rise, Vietnam is undertaking an apparatus streamlining revolution in line with Resolution 18, dated October 25, 2017, on streamlining the political system for greater efficiency and effectiveness. Vietnam is also promoting breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation under Resolution 57, dated December 22, 2024.

· How does the apparatus streamlining revolution under Resolution 18 contribute to personnel development in Vietnam in this new national development phase?

· What are the five key breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation outlined in Resolution 57?

· What does Resolution 57 say about “Internationalizing Vietnam’s cultural identity; Vietnamizing the world's cultural essence”?

Question 3 (10 points)

Vietnam aims for GDP growth of at least 8% in 2025. In order to achieve this growth target, what measures is the Vietnamese government taking to create institutional breakthroughs and remove bottlenecks and barriers?

Question 4 (10 points)

Vietnam will celebrate its 80th founding anniversary on September 2 and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and national reunification on April 30 this year. These are historic milestones in Vietnam’s development. How do you see Vietnam’s current role and position in the international arena?

The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) will celebrate its 80th anniversary on September 7 this year.

"What do you know about Vietnam?" contest rules

CHAPTER I – GENERAL PROVISIONS

Article 1. Contest name

The "What do you know about Vietnam?" contest is organized by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV). Awards will be granted to the best entries as per the contest regulations.

Article 2. Purpose and implication

1. The contest offers international listeners and readers an opportunity to express their love for Vietnam and their knowledge about Vietnam, its people, and its culture. It’s also a chance to show their appreciation for the Voice of Vietnam.

2. The contest honors contestants who submit outstanding entries that contribute to promoting Vietnam’s land and people globally.

3. The contest supports Party guidelines and State policies on external information services, strengthening relations between VOV and overseas listeners and Vietnamese communities abroad.

CHAPTER II – SPECIFIC REGULATIONS

Article 3. Eligibility

The contest is open to overseas Vietnamese and foreigners living in Vietnam or elsewhere.

Article 4. Award criteria

1. Content:

Entries must demonstrate an understanding of Vietnam and express affection for its land and people.

2. Format:

· Participants must provide written answers to all 5 contest questions, which are available on VOV radio broadcasts and the website: vovworld.vn.

· Submission period: From March 10, 2025, to June 15, 2025 (determined by the postmark).
