(VOVWORLD) - 93 athletes from 21 countries and territories are competing at the World Windsurfing and the Vietnam Open Sailing Boat Championships which opened in Hoi An city on Monday. This is the first time Vietnam has hosted these 2 world-level events.

Nguyen Hai Duong, Secretary General of the Vietnam Canoeing, Rowing, and Sailing Federation, said: “Vietnam has long, beautiful beaches ideal for sailing sports. They are part of the Olympic games but have not yet become popular in Vietnam. Vietnamese athletes will compete in next year’s Southeast Asian and Asian games”.
The Championships will end on Tuesday.
