(VOVWORLD) - A national workshop titled “The Great Spring Victory of 1975 and Vietnam’s New Era of Development” was in HCM City on Sunday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

The workshop underscored that the great victory of 1975 spring was a great achievement of the strength of great national unity, the unwavering will to reunify the country, and strong aspiration for peace.
n his address, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang said the victory was the result of arduous and challenging struggles, marked by immense sacrifices and resilience of the Vietnamese army and people.
"The Great Victory of 1975 Spring demonstrated Party’s proactive and creative revolutionary strategy, its sound leadership, and the power of the people’s war. It vividly reflected deep patriotism, the determination for reunification, and the spirit of the times combined with national unity," said Minister Giang.
Building on the achievements of and lessons learned from the Great Victory of Spring 1975, the entire nation is making concerted efforts to achieve significant, high-quality growth that elevates Vietnam’s position on the global stage and lays a solid foundation for breakthrough progress to make Vietnam a modern, industrialized developing country with upper-middle income by 2030, marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and enable Vietnam to become a developed, high-income socialist nation by 2045, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the nation’s founding.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Mass Mobilization said the workshop summarized lessons and experiences with theoretical and practical significance in order to apply and promote in today’s national development and defense.
"We need to analyze and clarify the great achievements over the past 50 years since national reunification, especially after 40 years of national renewal. These accomplishments will lay a strong foundation for Vietnam to confidently enter a new era of development," said Mr. Nghia.
Mr. Nghia also noted the crucial role of the southern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City as engines of growth in the country’s future development.
The workshop received more than 120 presentations and 14 keynotes delivered by senior leaders of the Party, State, and ministries. These contributions reaffirmed the profound significance of the April 30, 1975 victory in the Vietnamese revolutionary cause and emphasized the continuation of the revolutionary spirit, determination, and will in protecting, building, and advancing the nation over the past five decades.
