The plan was endorsed at the 15th Senior Officials Meeting on Trans-national Crime, which was held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, last month.
Since 2003, Australia has worked closely with ASEAN in strengthening its criminal justice system, in order to tackle human trafficking by a victim-centred approach. The Australia-Asia co-operation program will provide more support for victims of human trafficking and labour exploitation, especially in the fishing industry.
