(VOVWORLD) - Members of the 17th East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum (EATOF 17) have agreed to upgrade the Forum to the East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Federation to promote substantive and effective cooperation, and play a pioneering role in propelling tourism recovery and growth in the region.

It was part of the joint statement signed by leaders of the member provinces within the framework of EATOF 17 on Wednesday in Quang Ninh province.
The Forum pledged to establish a cooperative governance mechanism with member provinces on the basis of public-private-academic partnerships and expand a global network to achieve sustainable tourism.
Officials expressed their support for large-scale political and economic events, and major global events organized by member provinces.
They said they will continue to work together to develop a fair, sustainable, and eco-friendly tourism.
The EATOF 18 will be held in Tuv, Mongolia, in 2024.
