European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Monday that the EU will increase reception capacity to 100,000 places in Greece and the western Balkans. Greece has pledged to increase its reception capacity to 30,000 by the end of the year. The UN refugee agency UNHCR will help make it possible to accept 50,000 more asylum seekers in the Western Balkans. The European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Council of Europe Development Bank are ready to finance the effort.
