(VOVWORLD) - A ceremony was held in Hanoi on Monday to present the President’s decisions on five officers who are about to depart for missions at UN peacekeeping missions and the European Union Training Mission (EUTM).

Lieutenant Colonel Le Minh Thao was assigned as a military observer at the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), and Major Le Thi Phuong Dung and First Lieutenant Pham Duc Tho were appointed as military observers at the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).
Captain Nguyen Anh Tuan will take on an intelligence analysis role at the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), and Captain Nguyen Thanh Hai will serve the EUTM in the Central African Republic.
Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VDPO), said that all necessary preparations for the deployment have been completed.
Earlier, the Department had taken the lead in selecting officers to ensure that they meet the requirements of military capacity, qualifications, knowledge of UN peacekeeping, foreign language skills and good health, and organized training courses in accordance with the UN requirements.
Congratulating the officers, Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien asked them to strictly implement the viewpoints and foreign policies of the Party, State, and Army, and strictly comply with the discipline of the Vietnam People's Army, UN regulations, laws of the host countries, and the instructions of competent agencies and the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department.
The officers were urged to demonstrate professionalism and competence, helping to further promote Vietnam’s image and the reputation of the Vietnam People’s Army on the international stage.
To date, Vietnam has deployed nearly 1,100 personnel to UN peacekeeping operations across three missions and the UN headquarters.
