French agency backs Vietnam climate change program (photo:rspb.org.uk)

(VOVworld) – The French Development Agency (AFD) will provide Vietnam with a loan of 20 million EUR (nearly 22.5 million USD) for phase five of the Support Program to Respond to Climate Change (SPRCC) in Vietnam, as stipulated in a credit agreement signed on May 19 in Hanoi.
The SPRCC assists the Vietnamese government in sector reforms to cope with climate change effectively and encourage the low carbon dioxide emissions. The budget support is disbursed based on the results of the policy dialogue and the reforms adopted. This support has also brought the total contribution of AFD to the SPRCC program up to 100 million EUR.
