(VOVworld) – Defense Minister Phung Quang Thanh and Lao’s Ambassador to Vietnam Thongsavanh Phomvihane agreed to make concerted efforts to enhance the Vietnamese-Laotian traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation.

At a meeting on Wednesday, General Thanh expressed his hope that the Ambassador will continue to boost defense ties between the countries. He emphasized that both nations need to deepen defense relations to meet both peoples’ interests, focusing on education and training, exchanging army-building experience as well as enhancing collaboration in border protection. Exchanges should be enhanced to help reduce poverty in the shared border areas while preventing illegal activities and conspiracy against two countries’ bilateral ties.
