Speaking to a group of university students in Tehran, Khamenei said that Trump’s offer for talks was "a deception of public opinion ", state media reported.
"When we know they won't honor it, what's the point of negotiating?” Khamanei said, referring to the US’s withdrawal from Tehran's 2015 nuclear deal in with world powers, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), during President Trump’s first term in 2018.
The Iran’s Supreme Leader added that if Iran “wanted to build nuclear weapons, the US would not be able to stop it.”
