At the meeting, General Secretary Lam proposed seven major orientations to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two countries, suggesting that the two countries continuously enhance political trust, consolidate substantive and effective security-defense cooperation, and promote economic cooperation based on science, technology, and high-quality human resources.
He proposed that Japan actively participate in key infrastructure projects through new-generation official development assistance (ODA). The Party leader also suggested that the two sides unlock potentials in labor cooperation, green transformation, energy transformation, high-tech agriculture, and deepen local cooperation, people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
Prime Minister Ishiba said Vietnam is an indispensable partner of Japan and that Japan will continue to work together and support Vietnam in building an independent and self-reliant economy, industrialization, modernization and achieving strategic goals and socio-economic development plans in the new era of development, while closely coordinating to advance the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into a new stage.
The Japanese Prime Minister pledged that Japan will deepen economic cooperation, ODA, investment, strengthen security-defense cooperation, cyber security, peacekeeping, culture, people-to-people exchange, and promote cooperation in new areas such as digital transformation, innovation, quantum, and semiconductors.
He agreed to support the training of high-quality human resources in Japan and at the Vietnam-Japan University, a symbol of cooperation between the two countries. The Japanese Prime Minister also said that he would continue to support and create conditions for the community of more than 600,000 Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Japan.
On Sunday afternoon, Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, received Japanese Prime Minister's wife Ishiba Yoshiko and they experienced making traditional Vietnamese green young rice cakes together.
