The NDP was founded by late President Anwar Sadat in 1978 and ruled Egypt until 2011. According to the ruling, the NDP passed vows that violated the Constitution and did not respect the Court’s decisions. The judges said the NDP were dissolved by the Court after the coup that overthrew Mubarak’s government in early 2011, and the NDP’s return to politics would constitute a threat to Egypt and spark public anger.
