PM commemorates Vo Van Kiet, a revolutionist, who devoted his life to the nation

(VOVWORLD) -A ceremony to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet took place in his home province of Vinh Long on Wednesday.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recalled the life and career of the late leader: “Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet’s life and revolutionary career represents a loyal revolutionist, an excellent leader with whole life devotion to his home country and people. With a democratic and practical working style with combination of theory and practice, doing what he said, dare to think, to do and to be accountable, the comrade has contributed significantly to encouraging people from all walks of life to actively follow the renovation path initiated and led by the Communist Party of Vietnam."
"For him, renovation means creation and leveraging on strengths of the nation, people, history and people of Vietnam to successfully achieving revolutionary objectives,” PM Chinh added.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh added that today's generation vow to study and follow the style and morality of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet, uphold the spirit of initiative and creativity, and put the interests of the People and the Fatherland first, be absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause of the Party, and wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people.

Before the ceremony, Prime Minister Chinh attended the inauguration of Cai Cam bridge in Vinh Long city, a construction project to mark the 100th birthday of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet.
Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet was born on November 23, 1922 in Trung Hiep Commune, Vung Liem District, Vinh Long province, his birth registered name was Phan Van Hoa, pseudo-name Sau Dan. He was elected Prime Minister in the 1st session of the 9th National Assembly (1992-1997). Aged 86 with 69 years of Party membership, he served in various positions with major contribution to national construction and development. He died on June 11, 2008.
