Representatives from a number of countries and groups such as the Non-aligned Movement, Africa’s Group of 77, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, strongly criticized the US embargo, which violates regulations of the UN Charter and international laws, and called on the US to respond to UN resolutions and put an end to its illegal embargo.

Speaking at the session, ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Head of the Vietnam Mission to the UN, said Vietnam opposes the US unilateral embargo against Cuba as it violates basic principles of the UN Charter and international laws. Vietnam called on the US to follow UN resolutions and remove its embargo against Cuba. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Foreign Minister of Cuba, called on the US Congress to end its blockade policy against Cuba. He said he hopes the US Congress will change its unreasonable and brutal policy against Cuba.
