Vietnam, Cambodia pledge to further bilateral ties

(VOVWORLD) - Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni hosted a state banquet in honor of visiting Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong in Phnom Penh on Monday.

The Cambodian King expressed his belief that Party leader and President Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit will help boost bilateral friendship and cooperation. He thanked Vietnam’s valuable support for Cambodia in the past and in the present, saying it has helped Cambodia gain remarkable achievements in all areas. He said he hopes Vietnam will continue to help Cambodia develop its economy.

Mr. Trong said the important achievements that Vietnam has gained in the cause of national liberation and development have been thanks to support from neighboring countries like Cambodia.

"Vietnam and Cambodia are good neighbors whose people have always supported each other. The traditional relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia has become a sacred symbol and valuable asset of the two countries. Vietnam and Cambodia must overcome all obstacles and push their bilateral ties forward for their common prosperity," Mr. Trong noted.

He said he believes bilateral relations will reach a new height that meets the aspirations and interests of the two peoples.
