Vietnam pledges stronger comprehensive cooperation with Laos
(VOVWORLD) - General Secretary To Lam reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening its great relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos during a meeting with Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane in Hanoi on Thursday. Minister Phomvihane is on an official visit to Vietnam from February 12 to 14, 2025.

The Vietnamese Party General Secretary urged the two Foreign Ministries and relevant agencies to work closely to prepare for key diplomatic events in 2025.
Minister Phomvihane praised the strong Vietnam-Laos relationship and pledged to work closely with Vietnam to implement high-level agreements between the two countries, particularly the agreement between the two Politburos and the Memorandum of Understanding signed at the 47th Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee meeting in January 2025 to bring benefits to the peoples of the two countries.

The same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Minister Phomvihane. The Prime Minister praised the growing economic, trade, and investment ties between the two nations with bilateral trade reaching 2.25 billion USD in 2024, up 38.2% from 2023, with a target of 5 billion USD in the near future.
The Prime Minister urged Laos to enhance its business environment and support Vietnamese enterprises, particularly in energy, mining, industry, tourism, and education. He also stressed the need to accelerate strategic transport projects and deepen regional and international cooperation
