(VOVWORLD) -The United Nations Security Council on Friday strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, calling for accountability and international cooperation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

In a press statement, the Security Council reaffirmed that "terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security."
The council members underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of this reprehensible act of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice.
They reaffirmed the need for states to "combat by all means" threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts, in accordance with the UN Charter and other obligations under international law.
A terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday, killed least 26 people. India has accused Pakistan of being involved in the incident, but Pakistan has denied the allegation.
