The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), said this is the most impressive growth among the country’s seven main seafood export categories.

The surge in export value is attributed to high demand from China and stable purchasing power from Japan. Vietnam’s competitive advantage in crab exports lies in its high-quality products that are free from antibiotic contamination. Forecasts suggest that total exports of this product could surpass 350 million USD for the year, driven by continued strong demand.

Apart from crabs, Vietnam’s total seafood exports in the first two months of the year reached 1.42 billion USD, an increase of over 18% year-on-year. Shrimp remained the top export, bringing in 542 million USD, up 30.8%.
