(VOVWORLD) -General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam’s visit to Singapore is a pivotal political foundation to elevate the two countries’ relationship to a new height, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh.

In an interview with a VOV reporter based in Thailand, ahead of the official visit to Singapore by General Secretary Lam and his wife from Tuesday to Thursday, Ambassador Anh said the visit demonstrates the interest of the two countries’ leaders in strengthening bilateral ties.
During the visit, the Party leader will meet with senior leaders of Singapore, including Prime Minister and Secretary-General of People's Action Party Lawrence Wong. “Their upgraded relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will demonstrate a pivotal political foundation to deepen the very good relationship between Vietnam and Singapore,” he said.
In addition to traditional areas of cooperation, through the visit, the two sides are set to focus on clean energy, science, technology and innovation, and financial cooperation opportunities, according to the Vietnamese Ambassador.
