15 large boats have, over the past four days, left Tan Phuoc fishing port in Long Dat district to set out to the sea to catch fish. Dozens of other offshore fishing vessels have docked at the port to get fuel and food to prepare for their trip before February 7, the 10th day of the Lunar New Year.
Hundreds of basket boats that catch fish daily have returned to shore of Long Hai town, bringing back with them the first sea fortune of the year.
Pham Cong Gioi, a local fisherman, said, “We are preparing fishing gear and adequate food to depart at the beginning of the year. Hope for favorable weather and good luck.”
Leaders of coastal localities were also present at fishing ports to encourage fishermen and wish them happy new year.
Hong Nhu Vang, Vice Chairman of Long Dat District People's Committee, said, “On the first sea voyage of the year, we wish everyone smooth sailing. May all the sea trips throughout the year be favorable with bountiful fishing harvest and full shrimp and fish compartments. Fishermen in our district and elsewhere are required to comply with fishing regulations.”
