“Forever grateful to millions of soldiers, heroic martyrs and people”: Party chief

(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary To Lam said that the April 30, 1975 great victory was a symbol of the bravery, resilience, indomitability, and great sacrifice of the entire nation for independence, peace, and national unification, to uphold the truth that "Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one".

During his stay in Ho Chi Minh City on the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and national reunification (April 30), General Secretary To Lam on Monday met more than 400 delegates, including generals, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, spies, Saigon commandos, guerrillas, former youth volunteers, and frontline workers who fought in the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign 1975.

At the meeting, Party leader Lam said participants of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign were representatives of a heroic generation of a heroic nation, admired and respected by friends around the world.

“Today's and future generations will forever be grateful and remember the contributions of the Party, of Uncle Ho, of millions of service people, heroic martyrs and people of all walks of life, including generals, heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Army and Police, commando soldiers, and youth volunteers.”

The General Secretary highlighted one of the important current tasks of maintaining peace, stability, security and order for national development.

In the face of global and regional uncertainties, he emphasized five major requirements, including building a clean and strong Party, maintaining the role, guidelines and leadership of the Party; uniting and unifying the entire people; building an enabling state apparatus, administrative apparatus to serve the people; building a revolutionary armed force capable of overcoming hardships, not being passive or surprised in any situation; and a creative foreign policy and diplomacy.
