The event, hosted at Caravelle Hotel by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, was a reunion for journalists who covered the Vietnam War.

They reminisced about the historic Spring of 1975, when liberation forces captured Saigon, ending the war. Many said the event was a pivotal moment in their career, and the experience shaped their view of Vietnam and its people.

Edith Madelen Ledever, a former AP correspondent who reported on the US military’s 1973 withdrawal and has returned to Vietnam for several previous anniversaries. “Every time I come back, the skyline, the stores, everything, is much more modern. It’s wonderful to be back in Ho Chi Minh city with my colleagues, who also covered the war,” she said.
