India downgrades ties with Pakistan after attack kills 26
(VOVWORLD) - India has announced measures to downgrade its ties with Pakistan, who according to the Indian government, is providing continued support for cross-border terrorism.

The decision was made at a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting on Wednesday to discuss a response to a terrorist attack in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Wednesday that claimed 26 lives.
New Delhi will suspend a water treaty mediated by the World Bank and signed in 1960 that allows for sharing the waters of the Indus River between India and Pakistan. India also closed the only open land border crossing point between the two countries, the Attari Border in Punjab.
Pakistani nationals have been banned from traveling to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme. The total number of embassy employees will be reduced from 55 to 30 by May 1, 2025.
All security forces are on high alert, the Cabinet Committee on Security said in a statement, adding that India will be unrelenting in the pursuit of those who have committed acts of terror, or conspired to make them possible.
