(VOVWORLD) -As of April 18, 2025, Vietnam eliminated 201,651 makeshift and dilapidated houses, of which 105,968 houses were replaced by new houses and construction started on the remaining 95,683, the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions said on Sunday.

The remaining number of substandard houses of poor and near-poor households that need to be eliminated is 34,700.
The progress of demotion is being accelerated in Ho Chi Minh City. On the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30), the city’s Vietnam Fatherland Front and coordinating units have funded 1 million USD for repair of 323 houses of poor, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances.
