Russia willing to mediate Iran–US nuclear negotiations
(VOVWORLD) - Russia is ready to assume a mediating role in negotiations between Iran and the United States concerning Iran’s nuclear program said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following talks with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Moscow on Friday.

Minister Lavrov said Moscow stands prepared to facilitate the dialogue and “will support in every possible way any agreements reached, taking into account Iran’s legitimate interests.” He also welcomed the willingness of both Iran and the United States to seek a renewed nuclear agreement.
According to Lavrov, Iran has expressed full readiness to reach an understanding with the US within the framework of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). He reiterated that the only path to a viable agreement is to focus exclusively on nuclear-related matters, without introducing non-nuclear issues into the negotiations.
