(VOVWORLD) - The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, said Thursday that the UN nuclear watchdog should be involved in nuclear negotiations between the US and Iran.

Grossi, who arrived in Tehran on Wednesday, held discussions with Iran’s foreign minister and nuclear chief on how the IAEA can support Iran-US nuclear talks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the IAEA could play an important role in the peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue in the coming months. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to continued cooperation with the agency.
The US and Iran are expected to hold a second round of nuclear talks in Rome on Saturday, following initial discussions in Muscat last week.
