WHO warns of global health risks from US withdrawal
(VOVWORLD) - WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has warned that the US decision to halt its foreign aid contributions poses serious risks to global health programs, including those targeting polio and HIV.

Speaking in Geneva on Wednesday, he highlighted the immediate halt of HIV-related services in 50 countries due to the suspension of the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The withdrawal also disrupts efforts to combat polio, monkeypox, and global epidemics. The WHO urged the US to maintain funding until alternative solutions are secured.
