The exchange will involve 246 prisoners from each side. Kyiv and Moscow have frequently exchanged prisoners since Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, 13 of which have been mediated by the UAE. The total number of captives exchanged through UAE mediation now totals 3,233.

In another development, Ukraine has received the remains of 909 Ukrainian soldiers who died in clashes with Russian forces, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, said on Friday. Russia said it received the remains of 41 servicemen in exchange.
