"We’re happy to announce the signing, with our American partners, of a Memorandum of Intent, which paves the way for an Economic Partnership Agreement and the establishment of the Investment Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine," Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said in a post on social media.
A Ukrainian delegation travelled to Washington for negotiations last week after the Trump administration offered a new, more expansive deal.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the Memorandum of Intent as a positive and constructive step. He noted that the US proposed signing the document as an initial move ahead of a full agreement, which will require ratification by Ukraine’s parliament.
